Extract from the newsletter written by G.A.Y. today

The beginning of another week at G-A-Y & another Pride over. Have you noticed that the more Prides you go to, they are never as good as the last one, well I've got news for you, it doesn't mean the event is any less fun, it means you are getting older & if you don't believe me, that you could be growing up & facing maturity, then see if you've made any of the following changes

You keep more food than beer in the fridge.

6am is when you get up, not when you go to bed.

You watch the News Channels.

You go from 130 days of holiday time to 14.

Jeans and a sweater no longer qualify as "dressed up."

You're the one calling the police because those damn kids next door won't turn down the stereo.

Sleeping on the couch makes your back hurt.

Dinner and a movie is the whole date instead of the beginning of one.

Eating a basket of chicken wings at 3am would severely upset, rather than settle, your stomach.

A £4 bottle of wine is no longer "pretty good stuff."

You actually eat breakfast food at breakfast time.

"I just can't drink the way I used to," replaces, "I'm never going to drink that much again."

90% of the time you spend in front of a computer is for real work.

You no longer drink at home to save money before going to a bar.

If you read this list looking desperately for one sign that this doesn't apply to you, then don't despair because G-A-Y is still here to keep you young & give you a bit of immaturity

Wow... This lady rocks!! ;-)

Stress test

Anleitung:

We just opened the library again today. The day started with a collapsing bookshelf and it went on like this... With some customers I feel like the explaining guy in the video...

C.R.A.Z.Y.

Just saw a great canadian movie yesterday in the open-air cinema in Zurich. It was raining cats and dogs but the movie was really worth it.

The soundtrack consists of great pop and rock classics like this one...

Little Britain: Dafydd meets Elton John

Ingmar Bergman

On my last day in Sweden we heard on the radio the news about the death of Ingemar Bergman. The whole country was mourning and the only subject was Bergman. Impressive...
On the way back I picked up every newspaper I got to read more about him (swedish or english). In the Herald Tribune (1st August 2007) I found a very good quotation made by him:

"I want to be one of the artists of the cathedral that rises on the plain. I want to occupy myself by carving out of stone the head of a dragon, an angel or a demon, or perharps a saint; it doen't matter; I will find the same joy in any case. Whether I am a believer or an unbeliever, Christian or pagan, I work with all the world to build a cathedral because I have learned to draw faces, limbs, and bodies out of stone. I will never worry about the judgement of posterity or of my contemporaries; my name is carved nowhere and will disappear with me. But a little part of myself will survive in the anonymous and triumphant totality. A dragon or a demon, or perhaps a saint, it doensn't matter!"

Update - written in Switzerland

"Es kommt alles anders als man denkt." is german proverb... How true.

Sweden07-012

Claes and myself returned to Udden and worked there and had a great time. On Wednesday we were lifting heavy stones to move them to the shoreline by the sauna to secure it against the waves. The next day I had so much backpain I couldn't move at all. With painkillers from the States it was better. I bought pain killer in Sweden the next day. But this tablets made me so depressive and I really had panic and fear attacks. Nightmare! I tried to relax and read and enjoy my time there. But it was difficult and it was bad weather all the time... So I booked a flight home for the Tuesday 31st July. Fortunately SAS had cheap one-way tickets. It was a hard decision but in retrospective a wise one.
So I just had several days left and I helped where I could but it was difficult because I couldn't lift things or probably I could have but I was scared to do it...
On Sunday and Monday I was filming the play with a videocamera. So the actors have some kind of documentation. It was great fun.

On Tuesday I left for Switzerland. One week earlier than planned: First by rowing boat from Udden to Stadra. Then by bus to Örebro, by train to Stockholm, by airport bus to the airport. Flight to Copenhagen. Change plane in Copenhagen and further on to Zurich. A hell of a long trip but I managed quiet well and my back didn't give me much problems...
Big surprise was that Christian and Michael were picking me up at the airport with a car. So great... Had a nice dinner afterwards. Was surprised how dark the nights are here in Switzerland ;-)
On the national day, 1st of August, I went to see a doctor at the mainstation in Zurich. So I got good medicine and she just told me to be patient... In the afternoon I met Eneko and his "gang" at Wädenswil. Later in the evening we had a BBQ by the lake and we enjoyed all the fireworks etc. Great night and my first national day in years in Switzerland ;-)
The rest of the week I worked normally and now I am enjoying the weekend by doing nothing ;-)

Watch out! The invation of the queens!!!

Finally I found the time and an internet connection to let you know how I am.

My train trip was an adventure. The X2000 train from Malmö to Mjölby was over 30 minutes late because of a technical problem. So I had to travel a whole different way. Instead of Mjölby to Motala to Örebro I drove via Katrinholm (extra stop there) to Hallsberg and then further on to Örebro. At the end I was just one hour later at the summer house.

Sweden07-007

In the first two days we had difficulties to do anything at all. There were two heavy thunderstorms or strong winds. The summer was back after this. We moved stones to the shore line, builded up a floor etc. It is great to be back!

I stay in one of the little houses. It still has no electricity. So we laid a cable to the house. The next morning I got up and I saw something moving on the floor. There were several ants there. From where did they come from? Then I saw it. They were marching in a long line one after the other over the cable into my cottage. It looked like in a Disney movie together with marching music. I removed the cable and killed all of them...

Of course Claes and myself are once more back as parking guides for Magnus theatre on several nights. As a payment I get a free entry to the theatre. The play this year is fantastic. A great bunch of actors and a very good story. In short: four famous swedish writers are in authors heaven and have discussions with each other. One of the writers is Selma Lagerlöf. I really have to read something written by her. Beside the story there was great music with great songs. A dream, I tell you.

On Thursday we had all people involved in the play over at Claes´ place for a small dinner after the performance. It was great to see several people again and I had a lot of fun. I was surprised how much Swedish I understood. It´s getting better and better ;-)

Yesterday morning we surprised Brita, the mother of Claes. It was Margaretha-day. That´s her middlename, so reason enough to celebrate her namesday ;-) Tia, the sister of Claes, made a cake. So early in the morning (9 o´clock ;-) ) we put on funny heads and brought her coffee, the cake, chocolate and card to her bed. Then we sung some kind of silly swedish song. It was fun and I never saw such a big smile on that woman´s face ;-) After this Claes and myself drove to Stockholm. In the evening we had dinner at Bo´s place (partner of Claes). We had so many laughs. This two are such a nice couple.

Today I was wondering around the city and I bought several swedish CDs. Sthlm is very strange at the moment, because:

Watch out! The invation of the queens!!!

The reason: A gay cruise ship is in town this weekend. Which means roughly 1900 middleaged mostly American queens are all over the town. It is really an invasion. Tomorrow everything should be over. Thank God for that...

On Monday we drive back to Stadra/Udden... I´ll let you know...
